Just Wondering (and not writing)
At the risk of sounding like Andy Rooney/Jerry Seinfeld, as if I don’t already, there are a few things I’ve been wondering about. Nothing worthy of a column or even a paragraph, but if any of you can help me to understand any of the following subjects I’d love to hear from you. @Crackpot.com
- What is with the kids these days? More specifically, what is with the whole baggy clothing thing? Not just loose or "relaxed" fitting garments, but the yards and yards of fabric flapping around their slight bodies?
- Why should we believe that all other life forms in the universe, as encountered by the crews of the Star Ship Enterprise, Voyager, and whatever the submarine is called, look exactly like earthbound humans, with bits of clay stuck on their faces?
- Why do the Skeleton Warriors run everywhere? They sport capes as their garment of choice. We know they can fly. Why do they run?
- Doesn’t it seem like people run red lights much more nowadays than they used to? Aren’t they afraid of getting hit by some one coming the other way through a green light?
- Don’t you love that "Passion For the Road" song on the Mazda commercials? That kind of high-energy rock n’ roll really gets me going.
- Is anybody really excited about the Olympics? It’s in our country this time, you know, land of the free, home of the brave. Maybe we just haven’t seen enough merchandise yet.
- What is that language that they speak on the home shopping channels, and on most local news broadcasts? The words sound familiar, but it is impossible to find any meaning amongst it all.
- Why is 10 the magic minimum number of thought provoking observations whenever anyone sits down to write one of those annoying lists of "did you ever notice" questions.?
- Why do people love lists so much? People will read any amount of meaningless, uninteresting and, unrelated information, so long as it is presented in list form.
Please don’t cross me off your must-read list. Check me next month, I’ll try harder, I promise.
